Caroline Kist observes and intertwines through her work the world of her brother with her own. Transparency in edit and paper creates connection and a layered quality. The book needed to enhance a modest and intimate form for this ‘double portrait’. The poem (in both English and Dutch) in the back of the book is slightly hidden in the double cover. This is done on purpose: in this way the viewer is not directed into a certain direction. An extra tone of colour on the transparent papers deepens the grey (duo) tone of the images, but they keep their silence and serenity.
